Audubon Certifications

Moving Toward Audubon Certification Across the Board

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses acknowledges golf courses that protect the environment, provide wildlife habitats and conserve natural resources. Courses that do so earn certification awards. Audubon certification is a badge of leadership, commitment and maintaining high standards in environmental management.

Golf courses are natural stewards of the environment. Their size and make up offer vast natural resources for communities and wildlife in urban areas. However, the use of chemicals and resources, like water, are seen as a threat to the environment, above and below ground.

Golf courses are prime candidates to protect drinking water, improve the water quality of our lakes, streams, and rivers, support a variety of plants and wildlife, and protect our environment for future generations.

What are golf's environmental opportunities?

According to Audubon International, the opportunities are great and we couldn’t agree more.

  • Provide needed wildlife sanctuaries
  • Preserve natural areas within urban environments
  • Support native plants and wildlife
  • Protect water resources
  • Filter storm water runoff through golf course wetlands and turfgrass
  • Rehabilitate degraded landscapes
  • Promote physical and mental well being, reducing stress for more than 25 million U.S. golfers
  • Improve air quality and moderate temperature
  • Educate golfers and the general public about the nature of the game and promote environmentally-sound management

Eagle Golf is devoted to protecting the environment where we work and live. Eagle employees are trained to identify and resolve potential environmental issues before they have a negative impact or cause harm.

Since 2006, Eagle Golf has been in partnership with Audubon International and has set a goal for each course to earn Audubon certification. All Eagle Golf courses are currently registered under the Audubon’s environmental planning process and striving toward certification.
