So what does a golfer really need starting out?

First off, you’ll need your own golf clubs and golf balls. You could try to borrow your buddy’s, but you’ll hear a lot of complaining about slowing down the game and not knowing which ball is whose anymore.

Having your own set of clubs doesn’t have to be expensive. To get started on the right foot, you’ll need a set of irons, a putter, a driver and possibly some fairway or utility woods.

Now throw these and some balls in a bag and hit the links.

Wait. Don’t you need golf shoes?

For better balance and stability, a pair of golf shoes with soft spikes can help. Or if you need an excuse for a bad game, you could always blame the shoes. But it’s completely up to you.

Is that really all?

There are some extra items you might think about:

  • Golf tees
  • Sunscreen
  • A cap or straw hat (There’s a lot of sunshine out there.)
  • A golf glove. Left-hand glove for right-handers. A right-hand glove for lefties.
  • A rulebook and a lesson from the Pro is recommended, but not required.

The perfect round of golf has never been played by anyone. Ever. The game is all about honesty, character, being polite and courteous. Just get out there and enjoy playing. Practice makes near perfect, but the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the day! Eagle Golf’s mantra – HAVE FUN! Goofy golf pants are optional.
